You might walk right past this little food cart uptown regularly without stopping and that would be a mistake.
I got the chicken and lamb combo which comes over rice with a cream sauce. We forgot to ask for hot sauce on it so they gave it to us on the side.
It was so delicious! The hot sauce added a good amount of heat and flavor. It's also a good amount of food for only $6.
Note that it's cash only so come prepared or find an atm nearby uptown.
This little cart is serving up delicious, cheap food. Stop by next time you're walking past. -

I've been waiting to come here forEVER, but I either always forget or I never have cash. THIS IS A CASH ONLY SPOT! Just wanted to put that out there to help anyone avoid disappointment.
My friend treated me to the chicken because I don't eat red meat. I told her I wanted extra sauce on the side because you know lots of times, places are a little stingy with the sauce and when you add rice into the equation, it soaks up the sauce and then your food is dry. She assured me that extra sauce wouldn't be needed. I trusted her and she was correct!
I ate that food so fast! I promise I didn't put my fork down once. I was honestly a little sad when I finished. Next time I go, I'm getting TWO orders. This is such a gem to Charlotte and it did not disappoint. -

Food Truck to the rescue!!! Whenever I'm in need of a good cheap lunch while downtown I go to the Halal Food Truck.
I always get the lamb and chicken combo with spicy sauce. I'm not sure what it is but there has to be crack in the food cause it's addictive. The tangy white sauce mixed with the red sauce and with the finely chopped meat over the rice is mind blowing.
If you don't get in line early you will have a wait. They only accept cash and the girl taking orders is very frank. It's just her personality. They get your order placed and your food to you in a timely orderly fashion.
I think the quality and flavor of their food is better than some restaurants in the area. Also you can't find a more filling meal for that price downtown.

I was pleased by the service and food that I received here. My friend and I came to town just to hangout in Charlotte for a few days and were staying at the Marriott. Right outside our hotel was this delightful food cart. We both ordered the chicken philly. It was cooked to order and within a few minutes we had a hot tasty sandwich to fill our belly's and put smiles on our faces. I'm sure that while we are here a few more days that we will try some more of their offerings. When you see this cart place yourself and order and get ready to grub. Bottled waters and sodas are only a dollar too!

CHEAP AND SO BEYOND GOOD. The halal food truck is an icon of Charlotte and you absolutely must try it. Get the spicy sauce (probably on the side to be safe) if you're brave - I personally love this stuff. The line is insane late at night because everyone loves some good Halal after a long night of drinking uptown. But absolutely worth the wait. It is cash only though so be prepared with that.
